Le foto di questo articolo mostrano le varie fasi di modifica apportate ad un  “Jazzbass” di produzione giapponese. Il corpo in tiglio, verniciato con un forte spessore di colore coprente è stato modificato nel seguente modo. Nelle parti frontale e posteriore ho asportato una parte di legno dello spessore di  circa 3,5 millimetri,  ho poi incollato delle lastre di “Padouk”, legno dal colore rossastro, molto particolare, riportando cosi il corpo allo spessore e alla sagomatura del contorno originario. Il vano per la circuitazione elettrica è stato aperto nella parte posteriore, al duplice scopo di avere il fronte senza piastra e battipenna, in modo da far risaltare tutta la bellezza del legno, sul retro un coperchio più ampio dello scasso consentirà  di inserire un circuito di preamplificazione, la presa jack è ora posizionata sul bordo esterno dello strumento. La finitura ad olio rende bene la sensazione di “legno vivo” esaltando le venature del “Padouk”. Il circuito elettrico, il classico due volumi e tono, sostituito con un circuito più pratico, un master volume, un balance e tono.

Jazzbass body modifications

The photos in this article show the various stages of changes made to a “jazzbass” made in Japan. The basswood body, painted with a thick layer of opaque color has been changed as follows. The oil finish gives a good feeling of “live wood” enhancing the grain of the “Padouk”.
